Saitō Kichiyū (Saitō Jūkichi) was born December 30, 1932 in Nagano Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Murakami Chikuyū. He was affiliated with the Chikuyu-sha and the Saishō-kai.
