Shakuhachi
Takenawa Jakuzan (birth name Yasuo) was born February 15, 1905 in Okayama City. He began his study of Tozan-ryū shakuhachi at 15 with Hisamoto Rizan. He earned his Jun-shihan (associate master) license in 1933 and opened his own shakuhachi dojo. Eventually he attained the rank of Chikurin (Grand Master) as a member of the Tozan Shakuhachi Gakkai. He was a board member of the Okayama Sankyoku Kyokai. He founded Takenawa Metal Craft, Inc. and sponsored and organized concerts twice a year.
